Sewers, that is. Recently, The City of Baltimore experienced 3 sewer overflows in a single weekend. Due to heavy rains, an area on Falls rd. was particularly affected. Approximately 68,000 gallons of sewage is what this Baltimore neighborhood was met with. Because of the extent of the storm water overflow, another nearby street was also impacted with approximately 51,000 gallons of sewage. The current underground infrastructure dates back to the Civil War era and is proving it is in great need of repair. The City is planning an overhaul of the sewer system and has estimated their rehabilitation endeavor will cost upwards of $100 million from start to finish as projects commence.
